Unfortunately, I'm in the weird age space of the modern gaming community where I'm older enough to have known about most, if not all of the classics, but I never got to play them all. The Silent Hill franchise is one of those I didn't get to experience during their "prime" due to the fact I was still a wee babby at the time of their release. It wasn't until I was in my late teens and off to College when I first played Silent Hill 1, purchasing the cheapest copy I could find off eBay that still had the the little booklet. I popped that into my PS2 which I still miraculously owned (as this was the middle of the 360/PS3 era) and fell in love immediately. It was everything I ever anticipated it to be and I wanted to explore and experience the franchise as a whole as part of a journey to recover my own lost gaming experience. Shortly before I managed to actually acquire this copy of Silent Hill 1, however, I had bought the HD collection for the Xbox 360 which contained 1 & 2. But I couldn't play those until after I beat the first game, which I eventually managed to do. In the time it took, I beat Silent Hill 3 in my first week at college (with a roommate behind me providing boundless banter and enhancing the enjoyment). Even then, though, I knew of the ill reputation of the HD collection. That didn't alter my enjoyment of the games in the slightest, but this does however mean I did not get the "original" experience. With this new surge of interest in the franchise, I'd love for as many people as possible, fans old and new, to be able to go back and see where it all began. I hope this garners enough traction to hopefully bring back the other earlier games of the franchise! A Silent Hill 1 remake has recently been teased. I'd love to see that game make a return as well for the sole sake of accessibility (have you SEEN those eBay prices?! I lucked out immensely back in the day and sadly lost that copy in the years of moving). And if we're at 2, why not 3 and 4?!iGoodApollo

I currently have this game on PC CD and still play it. My first experience with SH as a franchise was with this game on my OG XBox. I also have the PC CD version of Silent Hill 3 as well. We need to preserve all of the SH games released on PC, and bring the first one to PC as well. This franchise deserves to be preserved.

One of the Best games on the franchise. I remeber when i spent 4 years trying to play it till one day finally got it on my hands and finished it right away, what a wonderfull game that needs to be preserved for inmortality
It's frustrating that younger generations will only have experienced classic 6th gen games like Silent Hill 2 or Resident Evil 4 through remakes. It's a little revisionist because I feel, as with any medium of art, it's a product of its time and playing it gives you a sense of how games looked, played and were designed 20+ years ago. The difference is that while the original RE4 is still available for sale on digital platforms, and has been for many years, the Silent Hill 2: Director's Cut is practically abandonware. There was a tremendous effort undertaken by the SH2 Enhanced Edition team to make that game run flawlessly for modern systems, further highlighting how well the game has aged. But having availability on a digital marketplace goes a long way towards preserving the game for future generations.
I sincerely beg the publisher to release Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 on the GOG platform. I have completely lost patience with the terrible Silent Hill HD Collection for game consoles and never want to play this shoddy compilation on consoles ever again. This port is a rushed, lazy cash grab filled with glaring flaws. It has washed-out fuzzy textures, broken lighting that ruins the original gloomy, eerie atmosphere, constant frame drops and dozens of strange glitches that never existed in the original PS2 versions. The studio barely polished the game before launch, ignoring longtime horror fans.
GOAT game. Truly a psychological horror masterpiece. The story, the characters, the music. All blends together to create a complex story about desire and sin. Please bring it to GOG :)

I have never played the original 2001 Silent Hill 2, but it remains the ultimate holy grail of my gaming wishlist. For years, I have listened to fans and critics praise it not just as a survival horror game, but as a profound psychological masterpiece and a work of art. Tragically, because the classic PC port has been abandoned for decades, experiencing James Sunderland’s heartbreaking journey into the fog has been nearly impossible for me.Everything about the classic version captivates me. I am desperate to experience the suffocating atmosphere of the town, Akira Yamaoka’s hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, and the raw, disturbing storytelling that redefined the entire horror genre. While modern remakes exist, I truly believe that the unique visual grit, fixed camera angles, and eerie nostalgia of the 2001 original possess an irreplaceable soul. For me, GOG is the only hope to rescue this legendary title from digital exile. Bringing it back would finally let me step into the fog.
I tried playing the silent hill 2 remake, but... unfortunately, Due to my graphics card being outdated and I do not have lot of money for a new one. Which Is where I come In. I already know about silent hill. my first entry to the series was homecoming unfortunately. as I played on xbox 360 before having a PC. but recently I also been playing silent hill 4 on GOG and I enjoyed it so much more. the game Is spooky and runs well on my PC. even the graphics and atmosphere still hold up. so I would love for the og silent hill trilogy to be here. especially since all three games got lot of upvotes. they are easy to run, they have phenomenal storytelling, soundtracks, and the gameplay Is still fun. I wanna support GOG more. and experience OG silent hill.

I love that game and I will buy it no matter the price as thats the most important game to me and I know it through and trough looking forward to glazing the game all the time and forcing it upon my friends and family to play it, if you never played this game before I envy you as I wish to forget that game and play it again as I did the first time around. Some people say that dark souls helped them through hard times but for me personally that was the game that helped me and keeps helping whenever my mental health , worsens. If I were to compare it to somethig it would be a experience like falling in love for the first time you just cant forget all the memories you had with her , you can try running away from the memories but they keep coming back. To anyone who hasnt played this game yet IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE please buy it when it comes out

the original silent hill 2 I emulated with my girlfriend soon after we started dating and because of it I can't help but look back on it so fondly reminds me of how I experienced a total classic during one of the best moments of my life and terribly wish I could play for the first time again
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
