Let me tell you, this whole job searching is starting to work on my nerves..... Nothing conclusive, a lot of talks with ladies you'd also like to take on a date but somehow don't seem to knowledgeable about your specific sector of experience not to mention they also seem to like you work for 3 euro's per hour less then the salary that is union stipulated.. bah

yesterday i had at least a good feeling with a spokesperson, there's also someone i'm talking about for government service job but those talks have been going for the past 4 months with possibilities and positions appearing and disappearing before you can say " sneeeeze " but yea, you do keep talking, if one position is a secure one for at least a year or 2 it is the government right? and who knows what can open up once your inside

2morrow at 9 i'm expected in den hague for yet another interview, this one should also include some safety since this is an international sized company looking to replace someone....

So what would your game advice be to someone in such a position, stress accumulating every day, you do want that summer holiday vacation next year.. not to mention a ' new ' car

Currently i'm searching for redemption in the old railroad tycoon 2, also have majesty hd gold edition ready as backup
Postal 1&2! ;-)
I guess that depands on what helps you deal with stress best:

I'd suggest something like Secret of Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle if you want something that's really funny anw will easily cheer you up.

Disciples 2 on the other hand is rather gloomy, but it's the kind of turn based strategy you can get completely lost in for hours and hours, just click away half the day without realising, forgetting whatever had you down.

Shadow Warrior 1 & 2 are perfect if you want to work through stress with fast paced actiond and lots of shooting and slashing.

Tales from the Borderlands is great if you want more of an interactive story, something that will very much engage and entertain without having you get stuck and frustrated.

are those tell tale games even for sale anymore? I mean, what you say about tales sounds interesting enough and i did manage to find a game page on steam but no way of buying it. Didn't they go bankrupt some time ago?
A golden wake. Don't want to spoil it, but it eventually turns into being a story about failure in life, so it might help with acceptance of your situation (not saying that to gloat, am unemployed myself).

They did, but something something new owners or whatever, and most of those games are back. I was sure Tales from Borderlands was back too, but apparently I was wrong. Unfortunately. Still, you can give Wolf Among Us a try instead. It playes exactly the same and has a good story, but Borderlands would have been more fun.

Spider Solitaire

Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise

The Marvellous Miss Take

Anything else is either stress inducing or too much of a distraction. I'd try and stay focused if I were in your shoes.
Assassin's Creed is great for stress relief, whether you prefer to go on a sightseeing tour of Medieval cities, run & jump & climb around, patiently plan a mission and escape route, collect hundreds of flags or just kill anything that moves.
I'd go for immersion or lengthier "project" games where you build an empire or have similar long-term goals.

So my picks would be something like: No Man's Sky, Aven Colony, SimCity, Anno, maybe one of the X-series games, Kerbal Space Program, Pharaoh/Cleopatra, and similar.

If you don't mind Steam, perhaps some Euro/American Truck Simulator? two of my go-to de-stress games.
The Hunter: Call of the Wild is another great stress-reducing game, super-immersive too.
If I may suggest the game Little Inferno. It is an easy game and light hearted. Also, you get to set things on fire!!

Great suggestions! my thanks, a couple i did own but another few i added to my wishlist ( such as myst )
my social paycheck arrives tomorrow so can't hurt to invest some money into stress treatment
booze and hookers are really not what i'm looking for ( prefer an hour long sport back rub over a hooker any day! )
(( though that little chinese girl that jumped on my back and punished me (( sour mussels )) will have a spot high in my erotics top 10 for a long time i guess ;)
so a couple of cool games are always a nice addition

- focus ..... keep your points straight, research the company, know what you want, act confident but not to arrogant and this should be in the pocket ;)

For me, the most stress relief games, seem to be the ones needing high concentration levels but playing casually and/or not competitive.
I don't play GTA but imagine not completing missions but just shooting cars with a bazooka... Or build a city and a big dam, then flood the entire city, while watching the water physics on Cities Skylines. Even trolling/brake Civ5, make war with every nation can be fun and relaxing!
Tnt everything on Minecraft, make a weird rocket on Kerbal Space Program and watch it fail. You get my point...

Also a flight simulator can be relaxing to many people.

I'm not entirely sure about this but i belief that the most relaxing games to me are games such as stellaris, polaris sector, simcity and even majesty type of games ( though majesty got me a bit depressed when i had to conclude i was to easy at play in my 2d mission ! ) of course stellaris has the mood going on but the whole ui is severely depressing in the way how it behaves ( i could of course setup a smaller galaxy and not play on the largest but .. no buts .. your system can't handle the truth dear Radiance )

but yea ant farm type of games are my thing as a silly stressed out observer.. and watching animal rescue video's or cat tubes .. those help a lot too
I had really nice stress reliever (I think I had also some "searching for the job issues" back then) - Paradigm. And I would wholeheartly recommend this game even to people who don't like adventure games at all - very humoristic game, but at the same time, surprisingly "refreshing" for mind burdened with problems. It's in GOG offer, and even has a free demo (available on developer's website).

Absolutely loved that one! +1 on that recommendation.
