I really wish to play that series, but I was only able to run both games temporarly.
I just want Drakensang and Drakensang River of Time, take them of steam and make them drm free, no remaster required for me.

Drakensang 1 has to be started in windowed mode under Windows 10 at least. You can then change it to full screen after you've started it and it should work nicely after that. You just have to at first start it windowed every time.

try starting it like this: drakensang.exe -windowed

huh? you start the game windowed and press Alt+Enter as soon as you're in the main menu and the game is fullscreen and can be played from start to finish like that.

I did all that & that's only temporary solution. You can't play from start to finsih like that.

but I did. twice.
River of Time is a little bit annoying, because it won't go fullscreen and stay in windowed mode. but the first Drakensang is in complete fullscreen after pressing Alt+Enter. so I don't know what you mean by "that's a temporary solution"?
I think BeatriceElysia means it's temporary because it needs to be applied every time you start the game: once applied, it doesn't let you run the game in fullscreen without any more hassle, the hassle is there everytime. I find it very annoying and would applaud it and buy it if the game would get to GOG with this compatibility issue fixed. It won't need to be a remaster for that, only a compatibility fix installed in the game properly, which is one of GOG's specialities: selling old games that run on modern systems fluidly out of the box, in principle.

You could try making it a borderless window, e.g. with Borderless Gaming or DxWnd. Works with many older games and makes Alt-Tabbing more convenient, too.

I think game stopped working in fullscreen when I entered certain cave in Ferdock village, but on all other points I agree.

The physical editions didn't require Steam. I don't know how easy or hard they are to find these days though.

Anyway, they are great game, and even though I wouldn't buy them (as I already own them) I'd still ike to see them come here to find a new audience. And while a remaster might be nice, I think they still look pretty good today. They were downright beautiful in 2008 (man, has it really been that long?).

Thanks, those might come in useful when I try to get old games to run.

I've had some problems with newer versions of Borderless Gaming, though, so I'm still using 9.1 (funny enough, the release page mentions changes for unreal that this version undoes, but it's the old Unreal games I'm having problems with in never versions).

I found Drakensang a decent RPG, but the graphics is a bit boring and the gameplay a bit unbalanced (it became too easy somewhere in the middle I think). Otherwise no reason not to have it here.

I bought the complete set from Amazon for $7 a few months ago.
