Here is what I think I know about Denuvo.

I currently have a GTX 970 in my PC, I wish to upgrade to a 1060.

But I have heard that changing anything hardware related to your PC prevents you from playing a Denuvo DRMed game? (The game I have in question is Total War Warhammer)

If that is the case what do I have to do to make Denuvo recognize that its the same PC and the same owner?
Nothing. It's all automated and behind the scene. If you change too much you might get barred for a period of time, but I don't think you'll change your hardware every week no?

Thank you for the reassurance.

And no I am just gonna replace my current GTX with a better one just once.

I really want to play Total War: Warhammer on Ultra and 60-FPS.
A graphics card generally isn't flagged as a major hardware id upgrade by most systems anyway

I have seen the statistics and upgrading even to a 1060 is still a huge leap:

Its not unusual to online protected licences to shut off if they think they are not in Kansas anymore. But I would be very surprised if Denuvo, mainly used for game licences AFAIK, would kill the game off because of a new graphic card.

Just guessing here; would never spend my precious time on such products.

The Total Warfare games aren't known for being all that well optimised though...

But I do need it for other games like Witcher 3.

Can you upgrade your PC hardware without any problems?

Yes.

Depending on the upgrade (CPU, mainboard or major OS update), it is likely that Denuvo will need to validate your PC again, which will happen automatically once you start the game. It may also be the case, depending on your upgrade, that Steam might need to validate your PC again anyway. So you would need to be online at that moment.

Sounds like you want Geforce to milk your wallet like an engorged bovine teet.

If its any consolation I am buying the most economic/affordable Graphics Card.

(A GTX980ti can be priced at less than $800, A 1060 right now is $300)

Don't mind me, I just had to say that. ;p

Are you sure? Once you change the graphics card once, you might get hooked and want to change it every week, maybe even more often. You just can't get enough of new graphics cards at that point, they are so shiny with sprinkle dust.

What's wrong with 970?
